Abstract

The presence of instructional media has quite an important meaning, because in these activities the obscurity of the material presented can be helped by presenting the media as an intermediary. The lack of media availability for thematic learning in class I elementary school becomes an obstacle in achieving thematic learning goals. The teacher conveys material with printed media in the form of student books and teacher books to clarify the descriptions conveyed to students. The use of attractive learning media will facilitate the learning process. So in these conditions an alternative is needed by utilizing the Expression Box learning media. This study aims to develop learning media and produce products in the form of Expression media that are used in thematic learning in the first grade of elementary school, and see the effectiveness of using Expression media in student learning outcomes. This research uses the type of development research with the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Media Expression Box is declared valid with the final percentage validation of the media by 90% with the criteria (Eligible) and material validation by 92.5% with the criteria (Eligible). After being validated, it was implemented in the first grade students of SD NegeriTawangargo 04 which showed the effectiveness of the media with a proven average value of 92.50% with the criteria (Eligible) and the results of student responses of 93.3% with the criteria (Very Interesting). The results of this study, the media of the Skill Box are suggested to be used in learning and further research can develop media that are much better and can deepen again about the factors of what needs are needed by students related to learning media.
