Abstract

The lack of knowledge of the environment causes environmental problems to occur, thereof the inculcation of caring the environment in students at school needs to be done early to form a sense of respect, ownership and how to care the environment and generate self-awareness to be able to overcome environmental problems and issues. The purpose of this study was to measure knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and cognitive skills in the environmental literacy of students in the Islamic Boarding School at Thammasat Wittaya, Satun Thailand. By means of Ex Post Facto with quantitative and qualitative descriptive approaches, this current research was conducted. This research was divided into 2 stages, which consisted of the stages of implementation, management, and data analysis. In the first stage, make a question instrument by adopting and modifying questions from the Middle School Environmental Literacy Survey/ Instrument (MSELS/ I), and conducting the research. the second stage analyzes the data obtained with descriptive statistics using the Microsoft Excel 2010 program with simple calculations and one way Anova test. The results showed that the environmental knowledge of Islamic Boarding School students at Thammasat Wittaya was high, while the environmental attitudes, behavior, and the cognitive skills of Islamic Boarding School students at Thammasat Wittaya were moderate. It can be inferred for the research finding that indicates the level of environmental literacy in Islamic Boarding School students in Thammasat Wittaya, Satun Thailand is moderate.
