Abstract

This study aims to develop a material module for breeding systems in plants and animals in IX grade in junior high school where learning activities and exercises are oriented towards Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). This study uses the ADDIE model which has five stages, namely: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The methods used for data collection are observation, interviews, expert validation questionnaires, student response questionnaires and teacher response questionnaires. Data analysis uses quantitative descriptive techniques. The results of the percentage of values obtained from the study of teaching materials validator amounted to 76.4% with a decent category, the assessment of the material expert validator 1 was 99.2% with a very decent category, and the assessment of the material expert validator 2 was 83.5% with the very category worthy. Small-scale trials involving 5 students who produced an assessment of 83.7% in the very feasible category, and large-scale trials involving 24 students who produced an assessment of 81.4% with a very decent category. Therefore, the breeding system material module in HOTS-oriented IX class SMP and plants can be used as teaching material in classroom learning activities that can train students to further enhance higher order thinking skills.
