Abstract

In fact, the implementation of thematic learning based on HOTS (Higher order thinking skill) at SDI Al-Azhar 56 Malang is in accordance with government regulations ranging from planning, implementation, evaluation, supporting facilities and targets that enable students to develop their knowledge and creative abilities in study. This study aims to describe: (1) the implementation of HOTS Learning at SDI Al Azhar Malang, and (2) Obstacles and efforts to implement HOTS Learning at SDI Al Azhar Malang. This research uses qualitative research. As a source of data, the Principal, Deputy Head of Curriculum, and Teachers at SDI Al-Azhar 56 Malang, this study used data collection techniques of observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation and field notes. Analysis of research using the model of Miles and Huberman. This research was conducted in January 2020. The results showed (1) the implementation of thematic learning based on HOTS (Higher order thinking skill) at SDI Al-Azhar 56 Malang, in accordance with the standards and guidelines made by the government, starting from the planning stage, implementation to the evaluation stage. (2) The obstacle experienced is in students who still have an understanding of learning and playing, the obstacle experienced is in the teacher who still has activities other than preparing for learning. Efforts can be made with programs made in schools ranging from planning, implementing and evaluating learning. Suggestions from this research, Implementation of Thematic Learning Using HOTS (Higher order thinking skill) is done with learning activities while playing so that students can understand learning well and schools can do the addition of employees in schools so that teachers focus more on preparing learning.
