Abstract

Almost all activities in the production of woven fabric are carried out manually in a sitting and standing position for a long time. This activity causes the risk of distal upper extremity (DUE) for workers. The purpose of this study is to determine and assess the level of risk of complaints, and provide improvements by evaluating work postures in the production process. Risk level assessment uses the Job Strain Index (JSI) and Loading on the Upper Body Assessment (LUBA) methods. There are 6 variables that will be evaluated using JSI, including the intensity of the duration of effort, effort per minute, wrist posture, speed of work, and duration of work per day. Whereas the LUBA method is used to assess DUE which evaluates the wrists, elbows, shoulders, neck and back. The results showed that the assessment of ergonomic risk level based on the JSI method contained 7 low-risk work activities, there were 1 activity at the level that could pose a risk and 2 activities at the dangerous risk level. While the ergonomic risk level assessment is based on the LUBA method, there are 2 work activities in category II and 6 work activities in category III. and 2 work activities are in category IV. Improvements are made by improving work posture.
