It answered this following research problem: 1) What are the second semester of Mathematic students’ needs in learning ESP? 2) Is the content of ESP textbook “English for Mathematics 2” relevant to the students’ needs? This study was a descriptive qualitative study. The object of this study was the ESP textbook “English for Mathematics 2” published by LC UMM press. In collecting the data, the writer took the second semester of Mathematics department students as the respondents of this study. Then, the instruments employed in this study were questionnaire and documentation. The result of this study indicated that the book did not fulfill all the students’ needs. It was proved that from twelve requirements only four points that were closely relevant to the students’ needs, and then the other eight points were not closely relevant. It means that the “English for Mathematics 2” was not closely relevant to the students’ needs. It could be caused by some factors. First, there was no previous research about students’ needs so that the authors did not know the learners’ need. Second, the author did not evaluate the existing materials. Third, the authors did not have enough time to prepare the materials well for writing the book.
