Abstract

Water hyacinth is a plant that has a high fiber content and in terms of ketersedianya not have to worry anymore. At this time only made of water hyacinth as a craft (handicraft). On this occasion, investigators want to process the raw material of water hyacinth as a non-structural building materials that can function as a ceiling. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Civil Engineering University of Malang. The mixture is used there are 6 variations of the mixture with a mixture ratio of water hyacinth: PVAc: Semen is 1:1:1, 1:1:1,5, 1:1:2, 1:1:2,5, 1:1:3 , 1:1:3,5. Each composition was made five specimens with specimen size 22 x 22 x 2.5 cm and the total 30 specimens of cement board. Tests conducted only on the fire resistance of the cement board. And treatment of samples is done by drying the specimens for 14 days. From the results of this study can be seen that the maximum combustion temperature of 610 cement board c °, long burning for 20 minutes had the fire resistance of 55.96% in the composition of 1:1:2 (Eg: PVAc: Pc) the best of several variations in the composition is used. This result is caused by mixing the right ingredients, it is not easy to crack so it does not cause the pores on the stems of water hyacinth which terlumuri pasta for indirect heat velocity spread throughout the cement board.
