In this study, the writer was interested in investigating “U and I” English Club as an extracurricular activity at SMUN 3 Nganjuk. This study was purposed to know how the teacher conducted the learning activity in this English Club, and to know the advantages of joining the “U and I” English Club. The scope of this study was about describing an English Club “U and I” English Club as an extracurricular activity in SMUN 3 NGANJUK, and the writer limited the study on students of first and second year 2007/2008 who joined this club. This study used qualitative research design. The research subjects were 1 English teacher and 57 students from 1st grade and 2nd grade. Three instruments were used to collect the data. Interview and observation were used to answer statement of problem number 1, and questionnaire was used to answer statements of problem number 2. The result of the study showed that to make class alive the teacher sometime moved their activity from class to the park or in the library, since the English Club was held after school hour. The teacher sometime gave them game to have fun, it was also the best way to study English according the teacher, and the students seemed to love it. Besides game, they also deepened tenses understanding, debate, conducted story telling and so on. In studying about tenses, they were given theories or patterns by the teacher, after that they were given time to comprehend it, and did the quiz. As revealed from the questionnaire, the students said that by joining this English Club they got advantages. 100% respondents said joining this English Club increased their self- confidence. 100% respondents said joining this club increased their speaking fluency. For 3rd question whether this English Club gave positive effect toward English academic mark, 97% respondents said yes, and 3% said no. All respondents (100%) said the English Club helped in taking English examination, on 4th question. For item number 5, whether the English Club increased students’ vocabulary mastery,100% respondent said yes. On the open ended question, the other advantages were like they could get many friends, learnt about organization, shared their problem, got new material, deepened their knowledge of English, helped them in solving problems found in the class.
