Abstract

Learning motivation consists of students' aspirations or aspirations, it is expected that students will get motivation to learn so that they understand what is in their learning goals. The purpose of this study are 1) Describe the motivation to learn grade 5 students at SDN II Donowarih Malang 2) Collect data on factors that influence the motivation to learn in grade 5 students at SDN II Donowarih Malang 3) Know the strategies given by teachers to motivate students to learn grade 5 in SDN II Donowarih Malang. This type of research uses qualitative research, which is more specifically uses a phenomenological approach. Data analysis techniques using qualitative analysis, in testing the validity of the data in this study, researchers used source triangulation. Triangulation of sources means comparing and checking back the degree of trust or information obtained through time and tools. The results showed that the Malang SDN II Donowarih students had intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. The intrinsic motivation is that there is a growing interest in themselves. Extrinsic motivation possessed is the acquisition of grades given to students through assignment assessments, daily tests, and semester tests, with these grades triggering them to be able to compete with other students, and to have a remedy in or improvement in grades that are deserved from being followed by students. Factors that influence students' motivation in learning at SDN II Donowarih Malang include lack of student interest, lack of support facilities provided by parents also affect student motivation. Efforts made by schools to improve students' motivation in learning at SDN II Donowarih Malang include giving objective numbers on daily assignments, daily tests, or general semester tests, giving prizes to students who get championship between classes and class champions, teachers give praise to students who can answer questions given during lessons or when they get satisfactory grades after tests or assignments, give daily tests to find out how students understand the subjects given and as teacher evaluations, provide penalties in the form of giving additional assignments, giving input to students whose achievements are still lacking in standard, and provide assistance to students who need to be given additional intensive lessons.
