Abstract

Quality is the totality of the characteristics of a product that supports its ability to satisfy the needs that are specified and determined. Quality is a goal that is difficult to understand (goals that are difficult to understand), because the expectations of consumers will always change. Every new standard is found, then consumers will demand more to get another new standard that is newer and better. In this view, quality is a process and not an end result (improving the quality of continuity). Six Sigma is a method of improving quality in a company for customer satisfaction. The purpose of this method is to determine the type of disability and can reduce the factors that cause defects. Then the Six Sigma method also increases productivity, so as to meet customer needs and satisfaction. This method is compiled based on a problem solving methodology, namely DMAIC, and is an abbreviation of Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control. This study aims to find out how to reduce the number of defects using the Six Sigma and FMEA (Failure Mode and Analysis) methods. The types of defects are Avalen, Blong, Dirty, Anleg, Color. The calculation results based on the Six Sigma method showed total defects in the printing process in July - December 2018 amounted to 21,399 sheets with a total production of 1861,288 sheets. Obtained DPMO value of 11,494,8774. As for the sigma level, it is 3,773. Based on the highest RPN value on FMEA that causes defects are unstable machine speed, ink type, paper type, machine setting skills by the operator.
