Abstract

This research has a purpose to identify the influence of variation angles of welding joint to welding parameters such tensile strength and hardness especially for specimen aluminum type 5083 by usig MIG (Metal Inert Gas ) method. The variations angles of welding joint used in this research are 60˚, 80˚, and 90˚. Sequentially, the result of tensile strength determination is maximum at 60˚ with 278,1142042 Mpa, then 80˚ with 251,5632284 Mpa, and last is 90˚ with 247,6261706 Mpa. The highest hardness over the metal base is at angle variation 60˚ with 26,23 kg/mm2. The highest hardness of the weld HAZ is at angle variation 60˚ with 29,87 kg/mm2. Meanwhile, the highest hardness of the weld metal is at angle variation 90˚ with 18,30 kg/mm2. As consequences, an ideal angle variation of joint welding by using MIG (Metal Inert Gas ) is 60˚.
