Abstract

Person which attempting suicide is increasing. Causes of suicide attempts also varied, from problems with the opposite sex relationships, family, finances, employment, mental disorders, and all sorts of problems that make a person feel hopeless and even depressed until they minded to committing suicide because they could not help it. Most people see an individual who attempted suicide from the originators of factors. But they do not understand what exactly happens to the individual whos make a suicide attempt. Therefore, this study aims to determine the background of someone doing a suicide attempt. Type of study was a qualitative, uses case study method. The subjects used in this study were individuals who had attempted suicide, which amounted to 2 people with different genders. Data collection techniques used were interviews and psychological tests. Validity of data used technique is the technique of triangulation methods and sources. The results showed that there are several factors the background someone attempted suicide. These factors include: (1) the wrong way of thinking, any thoughts on the subject of a bleak future, there is no way out would be the problem and no longer hope to become better. (2) a bad problem solving, the absence of efforts to solve problems and run away from the problem can makethe subject do not have a strategy to solve the problem. (3) The existence of conflict and stress. (4) Physiological, chronic pain that felt by the subject was unbearable. (5) ineffective parenting, family disharmony. (6) Excessive anxiety.
