Swiss Bel Hotel is one of several star hotels in Kota Tarakan, located at Jalan Mulawarman No. 15 Kota Tarakan classified five-star hotel. As a five-star hotels, both in terms of quality and facilities and services in it, of course, still better than the luxury hotels on the bottom, which is often found not far from the Swiss Bel Hotel. In general, public relations is a field or specific functions required by every organization, whether that organization is a commercial (company) or organization non-commercial. Formulation problem as follows: "What activities do public relations in building the image of the Swiss Bel Hotel town of Tarakan, East Kalimantan?" Whereas the goal of researchers in this study is to find activities that do public relations in building the image of the Swiss Bel Hotel city of Tarakan, East Kalimantan. According Jefkins, (1995:9) PR is something that explains the overall communication listed, either in or out, of an organization with all the audience in order to achieve specific goals that berlandasan on mutual understanding. The activity of PR is any activity or activities and the work done by the PR. In this study, researchers using qualitative methods with the type of research diskriptif. Sources of information in this study is 1 of the Head of PR and 2 PR people at Swiss Bel Hotel. Tekenik data collection are (a) observation (b) interviews (c) documentation. Engineering analysis of the data were descriptive qualitative ie trying to explain as real-fact about the facts on the ground that obtained at the time conducting research. Based on our research has been done, in accordance with existing problems, it can be concluded that the activities of public relations hotel in the Swiss Bel Hotel town of Tarakan, East Kalimantan is to give some understanding to the public about the existence of the Swiss Bel Hotel town of Tarakan, East Kalimantan, a relationship good with the internal hotel also with the communities and institutions. Where the hotel is able to maintain good relations with the public of potential, both from government and private sectors. Media used in building and maintaining the image of the hotel is the media local electronic Tarakan TV and print media Radar Tarakan. In this case publicist working together with the media used by the hotel.
