Abstract

This research discussed the influence of the scientific approach to student learning outcomes in science subjects. Currently, the teacher is still relying on the lecturing method, and learning is still centered on the teacher (Teacher-Centered). Students are not accustomed to discussing in groups and collaborating with other students. Students are not accustomed to issuing their opinions in learning. In this research, the researchers used a scientific approach. This approach is a learning approach that is designed for students actively construct concepts, laws or principles through stages of observing (to identify or find problems), formulate problems, propose or formulate hypotheses, collect data with various techniques, analyzing data, drawing conclusions and communicating the concepts, laws or principles found. This research aimed to determine the effect of using a scientific approach to student's learning outcomes in Science class. The qualitative method used as the research method. The researcher applied the quantitative approach in this research and this was experimental research with quasi experiment type with Nonequivalent Control Group. The population in this research was fourth-grader at SDN 2 Patianrowo, Patianrowo District, Nganjuk which consisted of 2 classes totaling 58 people. The results of this study showed that there was an influence of the scientific approach to the science class learning outcomes. Based on data analysis, the results of testing on data from sample classes were normal and homogeneous. Furthermore, the hypothesis test was performed with the t-test t-value of -6.278 and the significance value of 0,000, while the value of t-table with df 56 of 2.00. Based on these results, it stated that the value of the post-test learning outcomes between the control group and the experimental group has differences. This happened because the calculated t value is greater than the t table and the significance value is less than 0.05 (-6.278> 2.00; 0.000 <0.05). Then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, with the conclusion that "student learning outcomes using a scientific approach are better than student learning outcomes without using a scientific approach on student learning outcomes in science class in fourth-grader at SDN 2 Patianrowo
