Abstract

The source of the Maron spring’s flow is one of the aquatic ecosystems that is utilized primarily by the community as a tourist destination. Human activity is closely related to water quality parameters which include physical-chemical and biological factors. The purpose of this research was to identify and analyze aquatic quality based on chlorophyl-a content in the Sumber Maron spring’s flow Pagelaran Subdistrict, Malang as a source of learning biology. This type of research is a descriptive quantitive study. This research was divided into 2 stages consisting of the preparation phase and the implementation phase. Stage 1 is the stage of preparing the tools and materials used in research and determining the station in research. Phase 2 is the stage of implementation of the research including taking water samples at each research station, measuring Biologycal factor data (chlorophyll-a) and physical-chemical factors data (pH, temperature, light intensity, current strength, DO, and BOD). Biologycal factor data obtained from the results of the calculation of the value of chlorophyll-a and physical-chemical factors data obtained from measurement results of physical-chemical factors which include pH, temperature, light intensity, stream strength, DO, and BOD. The results showed the aquatic quality in Sumber Maron spring’s flow is quite good. The result of measurement of biologycal, physical, and chemical parameters in the water shows the value that is between the water quality standard. The results of this study can be used as a source of learning biology.
