Abstract

Students’ ability can be known through knowing their final scores of test administered to students. It is important to have valid test so the lecturers can ensure the score of students that is reflected by their outcomes after joining certain subject class. This research aimed to find out the testing validity on Reading for Information Subject in Second Semester of English Language and Education Department of University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The research method is used qualitative research design, the research subjects were 2 lecturers who already passed master degree and have teaching experience for two years. To collect the data the researcher used interview guide and document analysis. The findings of this research shows that the lecturers of reading for information in second semester of English Language and Education Department used the criteria of useful test. It is proven by the final test already have six components such as: Reliability, proven by the students already familiar with the test. Construct validity, proven by test and target language appropriate each other, it can be seen by students scores. Authenticity, it proven by good students’ scores it means goals of lecturer achieved. Interactiveness, proven by students respond in test was good. Impact, proven by the test give impact for students, lecturers and Education System. Practicality, proven by the lecturers easy to find out the material in arranged the test. Second, the lecturers used content validity and construct validity. It can be seen from the appropriateness between the final test and the objective of reading for information and also the material already taught to students related to the final test.
