Abstract
In this globalization era, the mastery of information becomes a prerequisite for the existence of the community to improve life in the running. Often seen that people who managed to improve the welfare of the people capable of managing information and communication to support the development potential and the environment. In the big cities with the Internet facilities, television and newspapers, to get information is very easy. Unlike the case with people who live in the small island of Gili Ketapang village, Probolinggo District. Residents of the island is very difficult to get an information. Although the location of the municipality Gili Probolinggo is only 5 Miles from Copper Harbor and only End to within about 30 minutes by motor boat. From these two researchers interested in studying how the local community communication model in fulfilling information needs. So that researchers will know and describe the model of Public Communications Ketapang Gili Island in Probolinggo District Information Needs Fulfillment To obtain maximum results so researchers using qualitative research methods. In addition to observation and documentation to find the necessary data We conducted in-depth interviews for each informant, informant determined by using the snowball technique. This in-depth interviews were conducted to obtain more information from respondents. The information referred to is the things that is more detailed and in-depth about the business community in fulfilling the needs of information. From the results of research there are two models of local public communication in gaining information. First, multi-stage model of communication. Occurs because people searching for information directly related to his work as a fisherman. Where they get this information by interpersonal communication with fishermen or other individuals who have first received information from a source of information and the media. Second, two-stage model of communication. Other information that local communities should also have to know they can not get directly, for example, information about their surrounding villages. Then the village head as opinion leader who became the place to get information. From the results penelitiaan, researchers hope the local government to consider the area of information access can walk better. Local communities is expected to improve the awareness of the importance of education, in order not to an opinion sack leader for more information.
