Abstract

Steel API 5L- X Gr. B is a pipe made and produced based on API standart (American Petroleum Institute) which has carbon 0,3% (source : Iscor Flat Steel Journal) that included in an average carbon steel. Wiryo sumarto, 2000 stated that the average carbon steel has good weldability than carbon steel. There are some factors that influence the metal power, they are : carbon content, austenising temperature, homogeneity austenite, and Quenching. The purpose of this research is to know the increating power of material steel API 5L-X Gr. B whit steep Quenching treatment. The result of this study showed that there is a real difference between the heat treatment with 700, 800, 9000C contains base metal and HAZ and welding have metal from steel API 5L- X Gr. B toward the average of result hardness data.
