Abstract

Gold fish (Cyprinus carpio L.) is the consumption of freshwater fish species are much-loved community because the meat taste savory and have high protein content. Disease of the most attacking goldfish is Aeromonas hydrophila which is almost always found and live in the water pool, the surface of fish body and the organs inside the fish (Afrianto, E. 2000). In the use of chemical drugs are many negative effects. Plant garlic has many chemical constituents that are as antimicrobial including allicin. This study aims to determine the effect of garlic extract (Allium sativum) on survival of gold fish (Cyprinus carpio L.) infected with Aeromonas hydrophila and to know the concentration of the garlic extract is best for the survival of gold fish infected with Aeromonas hydrophila. Parameters used is the survival of gold fish infected with Aeromonas hydrophila was subsequently treated with garlic extract. This type of research is to use the RAL, using 5 treatments were 0 mg / l; 1.25 mg / l; 25 mg / l; 37.5 mg / l; and 50 mg / l. Technical analysis of data using one-way analysis of variance, if the test shows the effect of the continued duncan. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Fisheries University of Malang starting July 26nd until August 12nd 2010. The results showed that there is the effect of garlic extract (Allium sativum) on survival of gold fish (Cyprinus carpio L.) infected with Aeromonas hydrophila and dosing of garlic (Allium sativum), 37.5 mg / l is the optimum dose in increasing survival of gold fish (Cyprinus carpio L.) infected with Aeromonas hydrophila.
