Abstract

Indonesia is vulnerable to natural disasters because its territory is on the Pacific Ring of Fire so that it is susceptible to mountain eruptions and earthquakes. Cianjur earthquake of magnitude 5.6 is one of the events in 2022. Through emergency response, the impact of an earthquake can be dealt with quickly and effectively. The study focuses on the participation of the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) in the emergency response to the earthquake in Cianjur district. The type of research used in this study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with pusposive sampling techniques. As for the method of data collection used, interviews, observations, and documentation. Research results show that MDMC East Java performs social services in emergency response in Cianjur district in several sectors including: 1) Health, 2) Psychosocial, 3) Hunian, 4) Logistics, and 5) Public Kitchen. The researchers gathered data participatively so they were in the field directly knowing the entire process of services carried out by MDMC East Java and the results could have a positive impact on the earthquake crossing that exists in Mangunkerta Village Cianjur district. The researchers therefore recommended that MDMC East Java further develop and enhance its volunteer capacity and the Cianjur district government to pay more attention to disaster-prone areas in implementing mitigation measures to reduce the impact of disasters.
