Abstract

Background : Insulin leaf (Thitonia diversifolia Herms) are one of the medicinal plant that are effeciasion as antidiabetic medicines. The suppliying of tea insulin leaf spread in some marketing. Making extract tablet of insulin leaf to improve the exseptability it was developed to supply the standart of the extract. Objective : The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the gelatin concentration 1% 2% 3% as a binder on the physical quality. Method : The extract of insulin leaf by utilizing kinetic maceration method using 96% ethanol as the solvent. The tablet was made by wet granulation method utilizing gelatin as the binding agent. The examination of physical quality of tablet includes the hardness, friability, and the tablet disintegration time. Than analyzed statistically. Result and Conculsions : The result of study indicated that the increase of gelatin concentration was able to increase the hardness and disintegration time, and decreases the friability of the tablet. The results of statistica analysis showed that tablet hardness did not have a significant effect whereas when destroyed the tablet gave a significant effect .While being of friability the formula of gelatin with the concentration of 2% and 3%. The concentration of gelatin 1% (F2) was the optimal concentration to make a tablet that has standart of physical quality.
