Abstract

PT. Supra Aluminium Industry produce products such as aluminum foil. Right now, the company still facing problems in production process. One of the problem is the percentage of defect products that reach 10%, while the company's standards of defect products must be below 10%. To avoid the waste and produce a quality product in order to fulfilling costumer satisfaction, Lean Manufacturing is one of the concept that can be used. The purpose of this research is to determine the waste that occurs most often in the company’s production process along with the causes as well as providing suggestions as an effort to reduce the waste that occurs. The first step is to describe the entire production process with the Big Picture Mapping. To identify the most common waste first thing to do is weighted the results of a questionnaire, and mapping the waste using a Value Stream Analysis Tool (VALSAT). The calculation will resulting the most common defect and inappropriate processing. By using the mapping tool Quality Filter Mapping we will find the most often defects that happens is flatness, and with Process Activity Mapping we find that the final inspection is the longest activity of all the production process. By using the 5W-1H, the suggestions to reduce waste in production process are by scheduling replacement the components of machine and using MIL STD 414 as the product inspection system.
