Abstract

Background: Mangosteen is known to contain a polyphenol compound of xanthon which has high antioxidant activity. Potential of the skin of the mangosteen fruits aimed at the skin is better when formulated in the form of a topical cosmetic dosage than oral. Face mask peel off can form a film layer by giving a feeling of toned sensation on the skin of the face so that it can more effectively lift and clean the dirt on the damaged horn layer at the time the mask is lifted from the surface of the face skin Research objectives: To know the influence of variations of PEG 1500 (1.5%, 2%, 2.5%) and a 14% PVA of the characteristics of physical properties (orgaoleptis, viscosity, drying time, and coverage); Chemical properties (pH) and the stability of masks. Methods: Research is conducted experimentally to compare the variations of PEG 1500 formula I levels (1.5%), formula II (2%), and Formula III (2.5%) To physical characteristics (organoleptis, homogeneity, coverage, time of drying, and viscosity), chemical (pH) as well as the stability of the preparation of the peel off mask. Results and conclusions: influence on the use of variations in PEG 1500 levels (1.5%, 2%, 2.5%) and PVA 14% physical characteristics to organoleptical preparations brownish yellow, distinctive scented, soft texture, and homogeneous. Obtained pH FI (5.20), F2 (5.28), and F3 (5.13). Coverage F1 (0.2188 g/cm), F2 (0.1253 g/cm), and F3 (0.1617 g/cm). Time Dries F1 (16 ' 28 "), F2 (17 ' 96"), and F3 (18 ' 54 "). Viscosity F1 (61250 cPs), F2 (59800 cPs), and F3 (36500 cPs). The results of stability and freeze-thaw test are obtained all the preparations remain stable and there is no significant organoleptis changes, while the dosage is increased and some have decreased in some temperatures, but still Meet the requirements in the range of SNI 16-4399-1996 4.5 – 8.0 (SNI, 1996) so it is safe and good to use on the skin.
