Abstract

The performance of Mongol Stres on stand up comedy with him being the storyteller as his characteristics. The way he hosts his stand up comedy mostly used paradox language style. The language style shows the fact about giving contradictive statements using paradox language style. According to that, the research problems are (1) How is comica Mongol stres paradox language style while performing stand up comedy on Youtube channel, (2) How is the function of paradox language style of Mongol stress while performing stand up comedy on Youtube channel.
This study used qualitative research method with descriptive qualitative and stylistic approach. Main data source of this study is Mongol stres’ performance video on Youtube, selected by specific criteria. Data collecting methods are observation and documentation, with research instruments such as data collection table and research indicator. Data analysis techniques used in this research includes data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing.
The result of this study shows that paradox language style used by Mongol stress mostly using paradoxal description, and using diction style paradox. Paradox language style used to build a sense of humour, shorten sentences, express feeling, portray reality, praise, criticize, also sarcastic. This conclusion drawn by using deep analysis by researcher on the style and function of paradox language style in data, such as words, phrases, clauses, and sentences used by Mongol stress in his performance on Youtube channel.
