Abstract

In a company, there must be many functions in each part, including purchasing. Purchasing is a basic function of the company because the company will not be able to operate smoothly without this function. The purchasing function is very important to manage because it not only includes the mechanism of purchasing goods but also determines the strategy for cooperation.
Purchasing is an effort made to obtain the goods needed by the company. The main purpose of purchasing is to obtain goods with the best value so that they can meet consumer needs and contribute to the company's operations and strategies. This purchase occurs because of the demand for goods from consumers and customers to produce output to generate profits. Therefore, when opening a bookstore business, proper management is needed, so an expert is needed to manage, one of which is the book purchasing PIC.
New Bookstore UMM bookstore is one of the new business units owned by the University of Muhammadiyah Malang which is located next to Rayz Hotel UMM. New Bookstore UMM not only prepares books from major publishers but also from Indie publishers. In addition, New Bookstore UMM also provides a complete variety of stationery for daily needs, both for school, lecture and office needs.
The method used in this activity is to make direct observations and be directly involved in purchasing activities at the New Bookstore UMM bookstore. The result of this activity is that New Bookstore UMM has tried to carry out purchases, sales and overcome bad stock books well, this can be shown by store management, smooth store operations, improved management, and the opening of a branch store in Madison. This proves that the New Bookstore UMM bookstore can compete in developing its business.
