Abstract

This study aims to find and describe (1) how the use of PPKn textbooks in improving student learning outcomes of class VIII in MTs Muhammadiyah 01 Malang, (2) Obstacles from the use of textbooks PPKn in improving the results of learning class VIII in MTs Muhammadiyah 01 Malang, (3) How is the solution of the obstacles in the utilization of PPKn textbooks in improving the learning outcomes of grade VIII students in MTs Muhammadiyah 01 Malang. This research uses qualitative research approach with case approach. The subjects of this research are PPKn Class VIII teachers, Headmaster, Library Management, and Grade VIII Students. Collecting techniques conducted in this study are interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis technique which is done in this research is data analysis technique there are three data analysis models used in qualitative research that is: (1) data collection, (2) data reduction, (3) data presentation, and (4) drawing conclusion. Validation of data used in this research is triangulation of source and technique. The results showed that the use of textbooks in the process of learning PPKn to improve student learning outcomes of class VIII in MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Malang has utilized textbooks in the process of learning in the form of modules and LKS as learning resources. Textbooks in the form of modules and LKS are not only limited to doing school work and home tasks but really used in the learning process. Students' learning outcomes are not only focused on textbooks but on student processes. The conclusion of this research is that textbooks have a role as source and instructional media, so that teachers consider textbook as one source of learning from several other learning sources. If teachers only use textbooks without using other sources and learning media students will feel that this is just a theory only, because without supported by other sources such as internet media and physical studies, the learning outcomes of students will be less than optimal.
