Abstract

Background: Burns are injuries or damage to the skin and body tissues due to temperature.. About 265,000 deaths each year are caused by causing burns due to fire. Silver sulfadiazine (SSD) is the gold standard of topical therapy in burns but the price is relatively expensive. Peanut seeds are proven to contain arginine which can accelerate the reduction in burn area and the price is relatively affordable by the public. Objective: To determine the effect of giving peanut seed extract (Arachis hypogaea) to the healing speed of degree II A burns in male white mice strain Wistar (Rattus norvegicus). Method: This study was True Experimental and used Post Test Only Control Group Design. The total number of samples was 24 rats divided into 4 groups. Each mouse was given a degree IIA burn in a round shape with a diameter of about 2 cm. Then the burns in 3 groups of samples were smeared with peanut seed extract at a dose of 0.39ml, 1.05ml, 2.1ml once a day and 1 group was given aquadest water once a day as a placebo. Then the area of burns was observed on days 1, 3, 7, 10, 14. After the data was processed, then it was analyzed to determine the speed of healing of burns in the sample with the General Linear Mode Test. Research Results: The results of the normality test show that the data is not normally distributed. One of the conditions in the General Linear Model test is that data is normally distributed. Because the data distribution is not normal, we use the Kruska Wallis test. The Kruska Wallis test shows that the data is not significant. This shows that there is no significant difference in the speed of healing of extensive burns. Conclusion: It has not been proven that peanut seed extract can accelerate burn healing because there was no significant speed of burn healing between the 4 groups of sample observed in this study.
