Abstract
Background: The phenomenon of injury among Asians, especially in developing countries is one of the most important causes of child morbidity and mortality. Children injury is caused by negligence or carelessness of parents who sometimes do not realize or even do not know that there is potential danger at home that can result in injury to children. Purpose: To determine the relationship between parental knowledge and self-efficacy in performing first aid in preschool children injury. Method: Cross sectional research design which was done to RA Muslimat NU 27 and TK Dian Agung students’ parents, with total 53 respondents. Data was analyzed using pearson product moment correlation. Result: The results of the study based on questionnaire data of 53 respondents analyzed using Pearson product moment correlation test, obtained a significant value (p = 0.001) and a correlation coefficient value (r = 0.428) which showed the relationship between parental knowledge and self-efficacy in performing first aid in preschool children injury. Conclusion: Most parents get the information about first aid from the mass media and some from health workers. Information obtained from health workers and the right understanding, will positively affect the self-efficacy of parents in performing first aid.
