Abstract
Thematic learning is intended to maximize the achievement of student competencies through the integration of various subjects under the auspices of a particular theme. Competence of students includes all areas of life skills. The theme used in the learning process using pedagogy means that the nature of learning is not on the theme itself, learning is still focused on its essence, namely life skills that have been included in the competencies and indicators. This study aims to: (1) Determine how the implementation of life skills education in IV-B class thematic learning in Muhammadiyah 1 Elementary School Malang, (2) Know what learning is hindering the implementation of life skills education in learning thematic class IV-B in Muhammadiyah 1 Elementary School Malang, (3) Knowing how obstacles and solutions to overcome the implementation of life skills education in the IV-B class thematic learning at Muhammadiyah 1 Elementary School Malang. This study uses a qualitative approach, with descriptive methods. As a data source or informant, the principal was chosen, the teacher of class IV - B at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Malang. And in collecting data, the author uses the method of observation, interviews, documentation, and field notes. This research was conducted in three stages, namely the planning stage, data collection phase and completion stage. This research was conducted in August 2017 2017/2018 academic year. The results of the study show: (1) Application of Life Skills Education in thematic learning in class IV - B adapted to the theme being studied. Life skills education is not not a stand-alone learning so the Teacher develops his own education on life skills that is set up in thematic learning, (2) Constraints in implementing life skills education in thematic learning in class 4-B Muhammadiyah 1 Malang elementary school is a facility problem because facilities can cover all themes, time because time is in limited school, and funding because to carry out life skills education needed equipment to support student peractivity activities, (3) To carry out the implementation of life skills education to the maximum, the obstacles in implementation must be addressed properly. Solutions in overcoming barriers to implementation Life skills education in thematic learning includes inviting students to save, for facilities that are not in school the teacher can invite students to study outside of school, to overcome the limited time the teacher continues learning unfinished in thematic learning the next day .
