Abstract

ABSTRACT STABILITY TEST AND CHARACTERISTICS OF CHEMICAL PHYSICS FORMULATION OF ANTIACNE CLOVE OIL (Syzygium aromaticum) AND TEA TREE OIL (Melaleuca alternifiola) Revi Eltha Zahri1*, Dian Ermawati1, Raditya Weka Nugraheni2 Jurusan Farmasi, Fakultas Ilmu Kesehatan, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang *revielthazahri.REZ@gmail.com Background: Clove oil is an essential oil derived from clove plants (Syzygium aromaticum) that containing the biggest component like eugenol 70-80% with the effectiveness as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. Tea tree oil contains terpinene-4-eugenol, α-terpineol, and 1.8 cineole as chemical components that have effectiveness as an antibacterial and antifungal for acnes treatment. The most effective dosage for acne is in gel type.because it can stick to the skin for a long time. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of clove oil at 1%, 1.5% and 2% concentration with the additioning 5% concentration of the tea tree oil in emulgel to the physical chemical characteristics and stability of emulgel . Method: The stability test using clove emulgel oil with 1%, 1.5% and 2% concentration with the additioning 5% concentration of tea tree oil. The Physical and chemical characteristics were tested including organoleptic, homogeneity, type of emulsion, viscosity, spreadability, pH and stability test of the preparation (freeze-thaw and real time method). Results and Conclusions: The results of the stability showed the use of clove oil (Syzygium aromaticum) in 1%, 1.5% and 2% concentration contained in the emulgel preparation did not give significantly affect for the physical chemical characteristics of organoleptic, homogenity, emulsion type, viscosity, pH and stability .
