Abstract
ABSTRACT Background: Geranium essential oil and peppermint essential oil are essential oils from natural ingredients which have the potential as antibacterial. Geranium essential oil that functions as an antibacterial and peppermint essential oil to provide cold ease can increase the acceptability of the preparation. Objective: Knowing the concentration of geranium and peppermint essential oils can provide acceptable preparations and avoid irritation. Method: using the experimental method by comparing the combination formula of geranium essential oil with peppermint essential oil while the geranium essential oil used to make each formula has different levels. Levels for formula I (FI) contain geranium essential oil (1.25%), Formula II (F2) containing geranium essential oil (2.5%) and Formula III (F3) containing geranium essential oil (5%). Aseptability test results were analyzed by One Way Anova and irritation test using the HET-CAM method. Results and conclusions: Results of organoleptic examination on all formulas has a yellowish white color, gel form and aromatic-flavored. Preparations with an essential oil concentration of 1.25% are the best results of the dosage formulas which can be seen from the results of aeptability test preparation. The irritation test throughout the preparation showed no irritation to CAM, indicating that the formulas are safe.
