This research is descriptive quantitative data collection methods such as semiopen questionnaire. The subject in this study were 50 students coming from Java UMM and the UMM 50 students from Madura. Methods of data analysis used in this study was analyzed quantitatively through statistical percentages. In this study, that the cause of the attribution of success experienced by students of Java is the existence of internal factors, namely the existence of a business that may arise on their own, while students from Madura claimed there was an external factor which is the support from their parents. When a student fails to Java and Madura are equally likely to assume that it is due to internal factors namely lack of existing businesses on their own so they do not obtain maximum results or experience a ailure.Basically every individual has specific goals to be achieved. In an effort to reach goals on academic achievement, each student will experience the existence of a success or a failure. In previous studies it appears that there is linkage of attribution with the success or failure they experience. With the research done by Khasima and Triandis (1986), it appears that attributional style affect culture of success and failure on a member of the society. For that culture to be taken in this research are Javanese and Madurese. Based on these problems, the purpose of this study is to determine attribution of success and failure in academic achievement of students coming from Java and Madura tribe.
