Abstract
Background: ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) is an eating disorder characterized by food restrictions. ARFID has no body image disorders but can cause failure in meeting nutritional needs. Perception of seriousness is the belief of an individual at the level of seriousness of an illness. This perception influences the decision making of individuals to take health actions. Mother's behavior in managing ARFID children is influenced by mother's trust in the level of seriousness of the condition and the impact that will occur. Method : The study was conducted at Singosari, Ardimulyo and Karangploso Public Health Centers Malang Regency. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling with a total sample of 245 mothers with children under five who had difficulty eating. This research uses descriptive analytical research method with Cross Sectional approach. Data collection uses questionnaires with data analysis using Spearman Rank. Results : 120 (49%) respondents had a very serious perception of seriousness and 177 (72.2%) respondents had good behavior. Mother's behavior can be influenced by the number of children. The results of the Spearman Rank test showed results of 0.008 (P Value <0.05), which means that there is a significant relationship between the perception of seriousness and the behavior of mothers in managing ARFID children. The correlation coefficient obtained is 0.169, meaning that the correlation included in the category of correlation is very weak and the direction of the relationship is positive or in the same direction. Conclusion : There is a significant relationship between the perception of the seriousness of parents and the behavior of mothers in managing children ARFID.
