Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of social media that is widely used by women, in its current use it can be used as a medium for self-actualization to meet one's own needs. The purpose of this study is to find out how to use Instagram as a medium for self-empowerment actualization for a KOHATI activist. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research, using a porposive sampling technique, with some predetermined criteria. Obtained five research subjects who provided data through interviews supported by observation and documentation as data collection techniques. Subjects in the study were active members of the KOHATI ISIP University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The study was conducted in several conditional places in the city of Malang. Data analysis techniques using analysis according to Miles and Huberman (data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions) using source stimulation as a test of the validity of the data. The conclusion of this research is, the subjects in utilizing Instagram as a medium for self-empowerment actualization, namely by putting up a profile photo, using a self-name, filling in a bio as a description of who he is, uploading posts in the form of photos or selected videos that show characteristics, interests, expertise , talent, potential, and shows that she is a woman who is empowered or applies the concept of women's empowerment itself. Then the post is clarified with information in the form of a caption or hashtag.
