Abstract

This study focused on using digitized and non digitized flashcards to improve vocabulary ability. This focus was taken to investigate the improvement of vocabulary in using digitized and non digitized flashcards at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Malang. The previous research showed that majority of Junior High Schools in EFL area have low proviciency in vocabulary. Therefore, the researcher intends to know the improvement of vocabulary in using digitized and non digitized flashcards and the researcher compared 8A class using digitized flashcards and 8B class using non digitized flashcards. Quantitative approach is chosen as the data is in the form of number. The instruments used were pre test and post test. A test was used because the researcher wanted to compare digitized flashcards and non digitized flashcards. After that, the researcher analyzed the data by using SPSS with Kolmogorov-Smirnov to know the normality of the data. The research object was eight graders at Junior High School of Muhammadiyah 2 Malang. The result based on Independent Sample T-Test revealed that the significant score in non digitized flashcards in pre test class showed (0.229) which was higher than 0.05. Meanwhile, in post test significance values also showed (1.000) which was higher than 0.05. The result of this study could be concluded that there was no significant differences between digitized and non digitized flashcards in improving vocabulary ability of eight graders at Junior High School of Muhammadiyah 2 Malang. In conclusion, using digitized or non digitized flashcard had no significant differences.
