Abstract

Character education is education based on values. Following up on going character education the government issued Presidential Regulation No. 87 of 2017 concerning Strengthening Character Education which aims to harmonize, deepen, expand and integrate various character education programs that are already underway. The purpose of this study was to analyze the implementation of character education in order to support the character education of Student in Pndanajeng 2 Elementary School in Tumpang Distric Malang Regency and to find out the supporting and inhibiting factors of the implementation process. This research is a qualitative descriptive study, located in Pandanajeng 2 Elementary Shool in Tumpang District Malng Regency, with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of Character education policies in schools is not much different from the character education programs that have previously been implemented. The school further strengthens character education that has been running by adding various habitual planting programs, adding hours of character habituation activities, adding to student learning activities and intensifying various programs that have been running at school. School implement the character education movement according to the Ministry of Education and Culture’s reference on three approaches. Implementation of Character Education policy itself in the process there are several factors that both curricular approach factors, intra/cocurikular approach, extracurricular approach and inhibit factors. Factors of the curricular approach through interest in reading, approach factors from intra/cocurilar through prayer before the lesson begins and factors from extracurricular approaches through scouting and dance activities, while the inhibiting factors faced by the school are none other than from the students themselves and from of the students.
