Abstract

Agroforestry is an optimal system of land use based on environmental sustainability by cultivating or combining forestry and agricultural lands (agriculture, livestock) so that it can improve the economy of farmers in the countryside. Agroforestry is primarily expected to help optimize the results of a sustainable form of land use to ensure and improve people's living needs. This sustainable system is characterized by, among others, the absence of a decrease in crop production over time and the absence of environmental pollution. This condition is a reflection of the optimal conservation of natural resources by the land use system adopted (Widianto, et al, 2003). The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of farming communities in Pujon Kidul Village and Sukomulyo Village, to know the patterns of forest land use and its productivity and to know which plants have high economic value. The benefit of this research is that it can be used as a reference for farmers in making decisions to develop Pujon Subdistrict Malang Regency agriculture. It is hoped that it can be useful information as a reference for farmers' land management in the future and as a science and technology, insight and further information source for future generations in management agroforestry and community. This research was conducted in August to September in Pujon Kidul Village and Sukomulyo Village, Pujon District. The method of determining the sample used was a purposive technique until a sampling method was based on intentional considerations of the age and time spent by the respondents. The results of this study showed that farmers used simple agroforestry patterns with alley cropping patterns in Ngabab Village and Sukomulyo Village. management with the presence of forests that can be managed as agroforestry land. Land productivity in both villages is high because management is appropriate for farmers. The types of plants that have high economic value for the community are carrot plants. The characteristics of the respondents in the study were 100 male respondents, working productive age 20-40 years with elementary to high school education with a number of family members
