Abstract

The purposes of the study were to know how King Leonidas’ leadership in the film 300 by Zack Snyder, to identify the problems faced by King Leonidas when leading three-hundred Spartans ahead of Persian empires and to know the way King Leonidas solves the problems in leading three-hundred Spartan ahead of Persian empires. The research used qualitative design because all the data were collected in natural setting without any numerical data at all. It investigated King Leonidas’ leadership in the film 300 by Zack Snyder, the problems faced by King Leonidas when leading three-hundred Spartans ahead of Persian empires, and the way King Leonidas solves the problems in leading three-hundred Spartan ahead of Persian empires. It used human instrument as the instrument of the research. The data were collected by watching and observing the the film 300, identifying and writing data, and writing the way King Leonidas solves the problems. The results showed that: 1) In running his leadership, Leonidas was categorized into passive aggressive leader. He upheld the national law, respected customary law, protected women and children and loved his people; 2) The problems faced by King Leonidas’ in his leadership were getting betrayal from his people and he did not get approval from the customs authorities to go war; 3) Not all the problems which could be solved by Leonidas in running his leadership. The problem related to the disapproval of going war was solved by ignoring it then Leonidas kept going war. While the problem related to the betrayal, Leonidas could not solve it because Leonidas knew the problem when he had no longer time to plan the strategy.
