Abstract

Transsexual is a psychological dissatisfaction to their own biological gender, disturbance in understanding their identity – as man or woman. The existence of transsexual is considered as bias behavior by general society, but in the developed country, choice to be transsexual is considered as a respectful life choice. Life as transsexual would get many social pressure, beside, they are lack place in society structure. The pressure never balanced with good solution from transsexual individual could cause certain pathological indication. That’s why there should be a research to find out the etiology and psychology of transsexual. Subject in this research were three transsexual man. Subject consideration method used observation, interview, and MMPI test. The research used qualitative approach. Data collection method were interview and psychological test. They were GRAFIS and SSCT. Data analysis used qualitative descriptive analysis. From the research could be found that transsexual etiology in the three subject caused by two factors. They were internal and external factors. Internal factor were caused by birth, and external factor was the dominant mother’s role so that father’s role weak. Because of the parent attitude inhibit the child masculinity development and because of subject identification to the opposite sex. In psychological condition, generally, subject could accept his condition as transsexual, though sometimes there were pressure, sinful, worried his future, and need confession from their environment.
