Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the main food source plant for the people in Indonesia, where the majority of Indonesian farmers cultivate rice. Rice plants are a major food crop that is at the heart of farmers in Indonesia, where rice is consumed every day by humans. Efforts to develop rice commodities in Indonesia have been carried out in several ways, such as the use of germplasm, the selection of progenies from crosses, intersubspecific crossings, and mutations The research activities were conducted in July to December 2018 which took place at the National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN), the land behind the Muhammadiyah Malang hospital, and the Agrotechnology Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture-Animal Husbandry, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The study of the vegetative phase growth response and the generative phase of MSP 4 rice generation M1 strain at several gamma-ray irradiation doses using a simple randomized complete group design (RKLT) with one treatment factor, namely the dose of gamma-ray irradiation. The treatment consisted of five dose levels of gamma irradiation, which consisted of R0: without irradiation (control), R1: irradiation dose 100 Gy, R2: irradiation dose 200 Gy, R3: irradiation dose 300 Gy, and R4: irradiation dose 400 Gy each was repeated five times to obtain 25 experimental units. The results showed that there was a diversity of vegetative phases in the variable days of emergence of tillers, maximum tillers, and plant height. As well as generative phases on the variable days of flower appearance, a number of panicles, panicle length, harvest age, dry grain weight, and weight of 1000 seeds, but there was no diversity in grain color variables.
