Abstract

Background: During adolescence various changes occur, such as changes in physical activity. Physical activity is closely related to the energy expended by a person, the less physical activity is carried out, the less energy is expended, if the amount of incoming energy is not balanced with the amount of energy released, excess energy in the body will be stored in the form of fat. Excess fat accumulation in the body has the potential to cause excessive abdominal circumference. Physical training is needed to overcome these problems. Physical exercise was chosen in the form of a combination of sit-ups, planks and crunch exercises, the exercise was given because it contracted strongly in the abdominal muscles so that it can metabolize fat contained in adipose tissue and be a solution for overcoming the problems of the abdominal circumference excessive. Objective: This study was conducted to determine the effect of a combination of sit-ups, planks and crunch exercises on the reduction in abdominal circumference of students with moderate physical activity. Research methods: The design of this study was using Pre-Experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest Design, purposive sampling technique and using Mid Line as a measurement of stomach circumference. The respondents of this study were 30 students from the Faculty of Health, University of Muhammadiyah Malang, who met the inclusion criteria. Results: Normality Test data analysis results obtained the results of the significance of the pretest (0.19> 0.05) and posttest (0.20> 0.05) which means the data are normally distributed. The results of the data analysis of Paired T-test Test results (0.00 <0.05), it can be concluded that H1 is accepted. Conclusion: There is the effect of a combination of sit-ups, planks and crunch exercises on the decrease in the abdominal circumference of students with moderate physical activity.
