Abstract

Introduction: Indonesia is the 4th as a contributor to the TB patients in the world. In 2018 the number of tuberculosis cases has increased by 6,787 cases. A phenomenon that occurs in the community that tuberculosis is often difficult to achieve a cure due to several factors such as factors related to the lack of health personnel education about TB, communities and families that do not provide support for the patient to recover. One factor in the successful recovery of patients with tuberculosis, the family. There is a relationship between family support with the failure of pulmonary TB treatment, where a patient with pulmonary TB who do not have the support of families at risk of 5.143 times to experience the failure of TB treatment compared with patients who received the support of his family. The role of the family as the smallest unit of society and as the person closest to the TB patient takes in providing care to patients obtain recovery. Objective: To provide information about how the experience of family members in caring for patients with TB. Methods: The study design using qualitative description or interview with the strategy of CSR case study (Case Study Research). Results: The experience of family members in the care of TB patients are facing obstacles in the form of the patient's family are reluctant to take medication for the itching and the family did not perform any maintenance action against the itch experienced by patients but only forcing patients to take medicine and motivated by reminding the patient's wishes for recovery.
