Mathematics constituted one of study lesson that give role to prepare perception ability and elementary school (SD) are main basis which determine to develop perception ability. Based on the guideline that be written by Valuing and Education Center of Balitbang of Education Department material of National Test (UN) most the material have stories question although the characteristic test are multiple choice. Beside that, in daily activity, mathematics is more faced in stories question, beside it in number calculation form. Ability to solve stories question directly is influenced by ability to percept sentence and establish mathematics sentence along with to do computation. The goal of this study are (1) to give description about student-Class V ability of SD Negeri Ketandan 02 Dagangan district of Madiun Regency to identify stories question and establish mathematics sentences, (2) have ability to identify stories question and ability to establish mathematics sentence to stories question to student-Class V of SD Negeri Ketandan 02 Dagangan district of Madiun Regency positive correlation. This study is descriptive with quantitative approach. The study subject is ability to identify question stories and ability to establish mathematics sentence in question stories. The used object are student-Class V of SD Negeri Ketandan 02 Dagangan district of Madiun Regency with total sample about 35 students in 2006/2007 who still be listed as students in study place. Based on the table that ability to identify question stories and ability to establish mathematics sentence of student-Class V of SD Negeri Ketandan 02 Dagangan district of Madiun Regency enter in middle category because most student gained score to middle category with percentage value about 57.14% and 82.86%. While to know correlation among it, the calculation was carried out by SPSS program and the used analysis are chi-square. hitung The result of chi square value that <table (5.109 < 5.999) thus Ho accepted. then it may be concluded that category of ability to identify question stories and ability to establish mathematics sentence influence among others or among independent.
