Abstract

ABSTRACT The Effect of Self-Control and Religiosity on Completion of the Thesis of Students of the Faculty of Islamic Studies University of Muhammadiyah Malang; Ernawati; NIM 201510010311034; Department of Tarbiyah, Faculty of Islamic Studies, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Advicer I Drs. Agus Purwadi M.Si, and Advicer II Dr. Khozin M. Si. Keywords : Self-Control, Religiosity, Thesis Settlement of Students This study aims to determine the effect of self-control and religiosity on the completion of the thesis of students of the Faculty of Islamic Studies, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. This research is a quantitative study. The type used is causal correlation that includes 64 students who have not finished their studies in the class of 2013 and 2014, all majors in the Faculty of Islamic Studies, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. This study uses a purposive sampling technique - affordable. The instrument used to measure variables is the scale of Religiosity by Glock & Stark; The Self-Control Scale by Tangney, Baumeister and Boone and Thesis Completion Questionnaire were prepared by the researchers themselves. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression techniques through the SPSS version 16.00 program. The results showed that self-control and religiosity had a significant effect, both simultaneously and partially. Likewise, the effect of the variable self-control as a moderating variable in this study also has a significant effect. Simultaneously religiosity and self-control significantly influence the completion of the thesis. This can be known through the F count value of 12.866> F table 3.15, and the R-Square value or determination coefficient of 0.297 or equal to 29.7%. Partially self-control has more role in completing the thesis compared to religiosity. This can be proven through the Coefficients table that self-control (t = 1,930, Sig. = 0,58 <0,05), and religiosity (t = 1,893, Sig. = 0,63 <0,05), can be concluded before the existence of the moderating variable (religiosity), the effect of religiosity on the completion of the thesis is 18.8%. After adding the moderation variable (religiosity), the effect of self-control on thesis completion increased to 32.3%. While 67.7% is influenced by other variables not examined in this study. So, it can be said that the existence of the variable religiosity (as a moderating variable) can strengthen or increase the influence of the variable self-control on the completion of the thesis.
