In Indonesia the parent attention and understanding toward gifted children still low and incidental in nature. Often parent and their environment consider the gifted children as trouble maker in their environment. It is caused by the many negative characteristic that owned by the gifted children, such as they often have unstable emotion. Parent often ambivalent when have ‘gifted’ children, proud of the gift but worry about how the gift will influence the children and whether the children will have normal life or not. Based on the background and given explanation the writer interested to follow up in the research in the form of “Parent Care To Gifted Children”. The research aimed at knowing how the parent care background to the gifted children. The research was conducted at Malang, East Java, with subject of parents that have gifted children in 10 to 14 years old. The research subject amount of 5 persons. The research is qualitative descriptive. The data collection method by using structured interview and intelligence test result, task commitment test, and creativity test from UMM Psychological Faculty, at the five research subjects. The data analysis by using qualitative analysis. The research stated that the parent care background to the gifted children is vary, they do not know about what is gifted and whether their children are gifted or not. 1 research subjects that implement or give freedom in conducting whatever activities to their children and 4 other subjects that implement discipline and guidance especially their study problem so their achievement can be sustained (the gifted children). The five subjects whose children included in gifted stated that the children have autonomy, confidence, have their own study way and responsive. Have special study way that difficult to regulate. Brave in expressing their opinion and close to their parent especially mother. From the gifted identification, it is known that there are 1 subjects where their gifted children included in type VI or The Autonomous Learner. There are 4 gifted children that included in type I (the successful) and 1 gifted children that include in type II (the challenging). It is also supported by psychological examination trace to gifted children of 5 research subject obtain high intelligence level that reach IQ about 133 to 140, and the score of creativity aspect and task commitment also high.
