Abstract
The obstacle faced in efforts to increase sorghum production is an attack of the plant-disturbing organism, namely anthracnose pathogens caused by Colletotrichum sp fungus. The pathogen can cause high yield losses and threatens the destruction of sorghum’s crops throughout the world, including Indonesia. So Far, control of plant-disturbing organism is carried out using chemical pesticides. This method could have a negative impact and damage the environment. Therefore an environmentally friendly control alternative is needed to reduce the uses of synthetic pesticides. One of them is endophytic fungi in which microbes that live in plant tissue without causing symptoms of disease in the host plant. This study aimed to identify and characterize endophytic fungi that contained in sorghum plant and to find out the potential of endophytic fungi that contained in sorghum plants which can suppress (antagonists) against Colletotrichum sp pathogenic which causes anthracnose disease of sorghum plants. This research activity was carried out from November to May 2019 in the Agronomy Laboratory of University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Isolation’s result of nine genotypes of sorghum plant tissue was found 10 isolates from root tissue, 11 stem tissue, and 10 leaf tissue. The identification’s result of the Trichoderma sp species were 5 isolates, Fusarium sp had 9 isolates, Colletotrichum sp had 10 isolates, Altenatia sp had 3 isolates, Aspergillus sp had 1 isolates, and Penicillium sp had 1 isolates. Among the antagonistic fungi found 1 type of fungus that can suppress Colletotrichum sp above 50%, namely Trichoderma sp, in the amount of 62.9% in roots, 62.9%, 59.2% in stems, and 85.1%, 77.7% in leaves in 5 hsi time in vitro.
