Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of the core model (connecting, organizing, reflecting, extending) with a contextual approach to mathematics learning, student thought processes and mathematical problem solving abilities. This type of research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were students of class VII C MTs Muhammadiyah 01 Malang as many as 23 students. Data collection is done by observation and test techniques. The results showed that the application of Using the Core Model (Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending) with the Contextual Approach can be carried out in accordance with the stages planned in the RPP with a percentage of 78.47% and the overall percentage of student activity is 74.67%, where the activities of students in observing, asking, trying, associating and communicating are included in both categories. The ability to solve mathematical problems of students in the stage of understanding the problem of planning a solution, running a plan and testing the answers showed quite good results with an overall percentage of 66.83%, and conceptual Thought processes 69.56%, 30.43% semi-conceptual..
