Abstract

Indonesia is the country that has the largest forest in the world, most of its forests include tropical rainforests. This tropical rain forest has biodiversity, one of which is mushrooms. Apart from being a nutrient for the body, mushrooms are also rich in phytochemicals with antioxidant properties. Mushrooms that have been obtained from exploration need to be cultivated, this cultivation is carried out in a place that is in accordance with the original habitat of the mushrooms. One of the factors that influence the success of mushroom cultivation is substrates, because substrate are a source of nutrition for mushrooms. Therefore, research on the content of antioxidant compounds in explored mushroom using different substrate such as sengon wood powder, goat manure, and azolla compost was conducted to determine the effect of substrate on growth and the content of explored antioxidant mushroom. This study used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design with two treatment factors, namely differences substrates and mushroom exploration. The data obtained were analyzed using variance to determine the effect of the treatment given. If the treatment has a significant effect followed by a BNJ test level of ∝5% to find out the comparison between treatments. Data processing is done using Microsoft Excel and Minitab 17 programs. The interaction between the growing media (sawdust, goat manure, and azolla compost) with exploratory mushroom strains (P8, PS31, and LB7) had a very significant effect on mycelium growth. The different nutrients from each substrate cause differences in the growth of mushroom. The best substrate treatment is 20% azolla compost + 50% sawdust. Mushroom strains that can grow to harvest only on P8 mushrooms, while PS31 and LB7 mushroom can only grow mycelium. Substrate composition affects the content of antioxidant compounds in the mushroom strain P8. The highest antioxidant activity is found in the growing substrate with the addition of Azolla compost, which is 20%, because Azolla pinnata has antioxidant activity.
