Literature is a kind of essay based on experience or imagination. Literature not only entertains and provides enjoyment to the readers but also gives something more important to human life. Part of literature is poetry and part of poetry is lyric especially in music. There are many genres of song such as pop, rock, jazz, r&b, rap, classic, hiphop, underground, etc. This study was aimed at finding out the general meaning, detail meaning, and message inside lyrical song “M.O.G.S.A.W” in Purgatory album 7:172” The researcher used descriptive qualitative research because the researcher tried to analyze and discuss the lyrics and utterances which perform the meaning and message based on stanza in “M.O.G.S.A.W” song. In this research, the writer collected the Purgatory album “7:172, and then found out the lyric of “M.O.G.S.A.W” song. After that, the writer searched the words, the utterances, or the expressions of the lyric. After obtaining the data, the researcher started to analyze the data provided. The result of this study showed that the general meaning was about Prophet Muhammad SAW where his existence could be felt by all people in the world. This song was also about someone who loved him very much and would give all his life just for him. He could love him; although he has never seen him. While the detail meaning of song described about the prophet Muhammad as the messenger of God who was sent in this world to convey truth of our God and to perfect our behaviors because we are human as martyr in this world. Moreover, the message of song was that the composer wanted to convey a message from the messenger of God that everyone in this world would die. If angel of death comes to us so there is no one who can help and we will never know when it happens. The narrator also reminded people to do the command of God and leave all his prohibitions.
