Abstract

Mutation is the sudden change in genetic material of a living creature that is inherited from the next generation, but that genetic change is not caused by recombination events. In plant breeding, induction mutations are an effective way to enrich existing germplasm, and to improve varieties. Phenotype performance of agronomic characters of plants is a morphological characteristic that is often used as a differentiator between rice genotypes, such as plant height, number of productive and non-productive tillers, number of grain per panicle, grain form, and panicle length. The selection of these properties can be done by utilizing various phenotypes in these plants. The purpose of this study was to obtain differences in performance and grouping between individual mutants in rice M-1 MSP-04 and 13 due to gamma ray irradiation at a dose of 200 Gy. The method used in this research is exploratory descriptive survey, in every 100 individuals of M-1 generation mutant rice from MSP-04 lines and 200 Gy MSP radiation, accompanied by Vegetative and Generative performance measurements, then conducted kinship tests using Minitab software. Variables observed included vegetative phase (number of tillers, plant height, stem color, stem angle, number of leaves, leaf width, leaf ear color, leaf tongue color, leaf color, leaf surface and flag leaf angle), generative phase (age flowering, harvest age, panicle number, panicle release, panicle length, panicle type Number of grains, fresh grain weight, dry pith grain weight and 100 grain grain weight). There are 100 individuals M-1 MSP-04 and 13 there are differences between individuals. The difference occurs in the vegetative performance of quantitative variables, generative qualitative quantitative and generative variables. But the vegetative performance of qualitative variables has similarities in the color of the leaf ear (white), the color of the leaf tongue (white), the color of leaf strands (dark green), the leaf surface (medium), the color of the stem book (green).
